Exactly. There should have been a scene where Ben questioned Locke and Locke could have said something mildly deep. That's all it needed.
Another thing that's always bothered me is that after the hatch blew and there was the purple sky thing, Charlie comes wandering out the jungle. (can't remember exact words)
Claire runs over.
What happened? There was a loud noise and the sky went purple.
Charlie: (stupid grin on face.) Purple?
Claire: Where's John and Eko, are they ok?
Charlie: Yeah, they're fine. (walks over to Aaron)
The opnly thing I can say why Charlie was unaware of the sky turning purple was that he was in the hatch and was unable t o see it happen.
