I had an avatar that showed me lying on the beach, and you could make out my buttocks, and they were discussed a bit in that thread, that's why you might remember it.
What is intersting is RA doesnt say anything to Locke, as far as we know, about his previous encounters with him in 1950s when they are together in 2004. And had the cmpass the whole time. Even when RA goes to Locke and talks to him when Locke is being told he needs to kill his father and RA shows him how to do this.
Locke didnt ask for it back until 2007 but in actuality it wasnt even Locke who asked for it.

So either its an alternate univers which I doubt highly or its because they didnt have all the finer details laid out as they had mentioned on many occassions even though they knew the direction the show was going to go in.
